Frequently Asked Questions about St cards

What is CryptoStrikers?

CryptoStrikers is the first sports NFT project on Ethereum, launching in June 2018, with card sales running through the duration of the 2018 World Cup. For background and history on this project, please read this post. To see the original web app, view this video of a pack opening.

Note that the project is not active - the company (including the original website domain and Twitter account) was sold in November 2018 by its founders. There are no plans at this time to relaunch the project for World Cup 2022 or any future tournament.

What are ‘Wrapped Strikers’? If I bought CryptoStrikers cards in 2018, why do I need to wrap the cards I own and how do I wrap them?

The CryptoStrikers contract used an early, incomplete OpenZeppelin's implementation of ERC-721. (TLDR for the nerds out there: ERC-165's supportsInterface() was missing). This makes the original cards incompatible with some of the newer NFT protocols. When you wrap, you get a new ERC-721 token that works everywhere. You can unwrap at any time.

Modern platforms like OpenSea need Strikers to be in this new format to allow trading. It is a compatibility tool, with nothing about the Strikers card you own changed. You can unwrap a card at any time, so there is no difference in value between a wrapped or unwrapped card.

Cards can be wrapped by going to https://www.strikers.auction/, connecting your wallet, approving the initial transaction, and then wrapping individual cards. Note that there are gas fees associated with each transaction.

Where can I buy a CryptoStrikers NFT?

All 10,261 tokens were minted in 2018. They can be found on secondary markets such as OpenSea, LooksRare, Gem, and other marketplaces.

Why does OpenSea show new Strikers being minted?

All Strikers cards were minted in 2018; there is no way to make more of the original cards. What OpenSea is showing is old ccards getting wrapped.

How do I transfer Cards?

You can use any wallet that supports ERC-1155 to transfer Strikers cards. The easiest method is to view the card on OpenSea, and click the 'Transfer' icon.

How can I find out how many cards were minted and the distribution?

Here is a checklist of the cards that were minted.

Will all 10,261 cards be eventually wrapped?

It's unclear at this time how many of the original 10,261 cards will be recovered and wrapped. You can see a running tally in this Dune Analytics dashboard.

Are these cards officially licensed collectibles?

This disclaimer appeared on the CryptoStikers website back in 2018:

CryptoStrikers is NOT licensed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) nor the Fédération Internationale des Associations de Footballeurs Professionnels (FIFPro).

When will OpenSea issue a blue checkmark for the collection?

At this time, it is not likely that OpenSea will certify the collection due to the licensing status outlined above.

What are the royalties on any card sales?

There are no royalties. Royalties were never set by the founders, and this will not change.
